The University of Virginia today announced the appointment of Jennifer L. West as the 14th dean of the School of Engineering and Applied Science, effective July 1.
President Jim Ryan and Provost Liz Magill announced that Robyn S. Hadley, associate vice chancellor and dean for scholar programs at Washington University in St. Louis, will become UVA’s next vice president and chief student affairs officer, effective June 1.
The University of Virginia has announced the appointment of Emily Springston as associate vice president, Office for Equal Opportunity and Civil Rights.
Springston has served as Indiana University’s director of institutional equity and Title IX since 2018, and as the university Title IX coordinator since 2014. She will assume her position at UVA March 1.
The University of Virginia’s Democracy Initiative has announced the selection of Laurent Dubois as its co-director for academic affairs. Pending final approval from the University’s Board of Visitors, Dubois will partner with Melody C. Barnes, the initiative’s co-director for policy and public affairs, in providing leadership to shape the project’s development and direction.
Marianne Minton Bowes joins the University of Virginia as Associate Vice President, Health System Development effective November 2020. Bowes previously served as Senior Director of Development Mid-Atlantic & Southeast at Wake Forest University where she managed regional fundraising teams toward a $20M+ annual goal and served as an integral fundraiser for the $1 Billion Wake Will Lead Campaign that was successfully completed in 2020. Prior to Wake Forest, Bowes held senior fundraising positions for the University of Memphis in Tennessee.
The University of Virginia announced that Stephen Farmer has been named UVA's first vice provost for enrollment.
Farmer is currently vice provost for enrollment and undergraduate admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to his time at UNC, Farmer served as the senior assistant dean of admission at the University of Virginia. He is also an alumnus, having earned a master's degree in English from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.
