Heidi Crapol

Heidi Crapol has more than 25 years of mission-driven leadership in nonprofit, corporate and higher education environments. Her work has focused on philanthropy, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, communications and organizational development.  Ms. Crapol began her career in the nonprofit sector in fundraising and nonprofit management with the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She later moved to the private sector where she held a number of leadership positions at Altria in corporate affairs. She joined Genworth Financial in 2008, as the Vice President of Community Relations where she was responsible for leading the global Genworth Foundation, and employee engagement. In 2017, she joined Virginia Commonwealth University and during her tenure established the Center for Community Engagement and Impact where she served as Executive Director. Her leadership has been dedicated to facilitating multi-disciplinary, collaborative initiatives to advance research, scholarship and student learning while accelerating community impact. 

Ms. Crapol is actively involved in the Richmond community and had been recognized for her leadership on a number of nonprofit Board of Directors, including but not limited to; Communities in Schools, The Richmond Ballet, and the RVA Chamber’s Foundation Board of Directors. She also serves as an instructor at the University of Richmond’s Institute on Philanthropy. She is a graduate of Leadership Metro Richmond Class of 2006 and Lead Virginia 2018. She earned a B.A. from the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia and completed the Executive Education program at the University of Virginia, Darden School of Business. Ms. Crapol is a proud parent of a University of Virginia graduate, Class of 2020.
