Associate Dean for Inclusion, Diversity, Equity & Accessibility - UVA Library

Catalina Piatt-Esguerra is the new Associate Dean of Inclusion, Diversity, Equity, and Accessibility at UVA Library. She previously served as the Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) at UVA's School of Education & Human Development’s. In this inaugural role, she co-led the design, launch, and operation of DEI-focused professional development workshops, program suites, and community-building opportunities for the School’s community of 1200+ students (online and in-person) and 300+ faculty and staff.

Stephenson Chair of Data Science and Director of Data Science Institute

Philip E. Bourne will be joining the University as the Stephenson Chair of Data Science, Director of the Data Science Institute, and Professor in the Department of Biomedical Engineering.  His effective date is May 1, 2017.

Vice President and Chief Information Officer

The University of Virginia has appointed Kelly P. Doney as the next Vice President and Chief Information Officer.

She brings decades of experience in higher education, technology and management consulting, most recently serving as vice president and chief information officer at Villanova University. At UVA, Doney will be responsible for oversight of areas including the planning and delivery of central information technology applications, infrastructure, support, information security and policy, and research computing.

Associate Dean for Finance and Operations

UVA’s School of Engineering and Applied Science has named Michael Todd Associate Dean for Finance and Operations. Todd will be the School’s chief operating and chief financial officer and function as treasurer for the Virginia Engineering Foundation.

Associate Vice President of Gift Planning, University Advancement

Heather Engel has joined the University of Virginia community as the next Associate Vice President of Gift Planning, University Advancement. Heather has spent the last 15 years at the Rochester Institute of Technology in various advancement leadership roles, most recently in the role of Associate Vice President for University Development and Engagement. Prior to her move to higher education, Heather spent nearly 13 years practicing law in Illinois, Massachusetts, and California. She specialized in estate planning for high net worth individuals.

Executive Vice President for Health Affairs

Dr. K. Craig Kent was recently appointed as executive vice president for health affairs. The senior leadership position oversees UVA Health and its clinical enterprise, which spans the Commonwealth of Virginia.

Kent previously served as dean of The Ohio State University College of Medicine, vice president for health sciences and the Leslie H. and Abigail S. Wexner Dean’s Chair in Medicine.
