Executive Director of IT

The University of Virginia Library is very pleased to announce that Stan Gunn will become its Executive Director of Information Technology on December 3, 2018. He will report to the University Librarian and Dean of Libraries, John Unsworth, and he will be a member of the Library’s senior leadership team. Stan comes from UVA’s Organizational Excellence program, where he developed processes and systems to coordinate, monitor, and assess pan-University projects (both academic and administrative).

Professor of Practice and David C. Walentas Jefferson Scholars Foundation Professor, UVA Darden

A global thought leader in the areas of health care and women’s leadership and senior partner at McKinsey & Co., Vivian Riefberg will bring to the UVA and Darden communities, starting in August 2020, over three decades of experience and in-depth applied knowledge. A speaker, writer and convener in the health care field — notably in health care services and the interplay between business and government — she is a leader in the area of the economic benefits of gender parity in business and society.

Vice Provost for Enrollment

The University of Virginia announced that Stephen Farmer has been named UVA's first vice provost for enrollment.

Farmer is currently vice provost for enrollment and undergraduate admissions at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to his time at UNC, Farmer served as the senior assistant dean of admission at the University of Virginia. He is also an alumnus, having earned a master's degree in English from the Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.

Chief Program Officer, Alumni Association

Heidi Crapol has more than 25 years of mission-driven leadership in nonprofit, corporate and higher education environments. Her work has focused on philanthropy, stakeholder engagement, strategic planning, communications and organizational development.  Ms. Crapol began her career in the nonprofit sector in fundraising and nonprofit management with the National Cystic Fibrosis Foundation. She later moved to the private sector where she held a number of leadership positions at Altria in corporate affairs.

Chief of Staff, College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences

Kerry Searle Grannis worked 11 years at The Brookings Institution before joining the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences in early February, but the new A&S Chief of Staff is no stranger to higher education.
 

Assistant Vice President for IMPACT and Decision Support

John brings more than 17 years of experience as an HR leader in higher education. In his previous role as a Human Resources Associate Vice President at The George Washington University (GW), John leveraged data and analytics to develop and direct strategies in support of the university’s ability to recruit, motivate, engage, develop, and reward employees. This included leadership of compensation administration, benefits strategy, wellness, work-life effectiveness, and rewards and recognition programming. He also served as Executive Director of Compensation Administration at GW.
