The University of Virginia recently appointed John M. Unsworth as university librarian and dean of libraries, and professor of English. Coming from Brandeis University in Massachusetts, where he served as vice provost, university librarian, chief information officer, and professor of English, Unsworth began his tenure at the UVA Library in June.

Director of Development for Medical Alumni

Chris Neal joins UVA Health Development from Longwood University where he has served as Assistant Vice President for Leadership & Planned Giving. He has led a team of gift officers to serve as generalists, fundraising for the greater Longwood community. During the course of Chris’s tenure, he has played an integral role in increasing Longwood’s endowment from $51.8M to over $100M. Chris is passionate about the advancement profession, relationship building and serving on a team.

Associate Vice President for State Government Relations and Special Assistant to the President

Betsey Daley has been appointed Associate Vice President for State Government Relations and Special Assistant to the President. Betsey will assume her new role October 30th.

Dean of the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy

The University of Virginia today announced the appointment of Ian H. Solomon as the next dean of the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, effective Sept. 1. Solomon, currently CEO of SolomonGlobal LLC, is an educator, policymaker, diplomat and businessman with more than 20 years of experience in more than 40 countries.

Associate Dean of Administration, Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy

The Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy has named Craig Lindqvist the new associate dean for administration. Lindqvist will succeed Bill Ashby as the chief financial and administrative officer for the school.

Dean, School of Architecture

The University of Virginia announced today that Malo A. Hutson has been appointed the dean of the School of Architecture, effective July 1.

Hutson is currently a tenured professor and director of the Urban Planning Ph.D. Program in the Graduate School of Architecture, Planning, and Preservation at Columbia University in New York City, as well as director of the school’s Urban Community and Health Equity Lab. He is a nationally and internationally recognized expert in the areas of community development, environmental justice and urban health.
