Betsey Daley

Associate Vice President for State Government Relations and Special Assistant to the President

Betsey Daley has been appointed Associate Vice President for State Government Relations and Special Assistant to the President. Betsey will assume her new role October 30th.

Daley has worked in the areas of higher education, budget and finance in Virginia for over 34 years.  For the last 15 years, she has served as director of the staff of the Virginia Senate Finance Committee, whose oversight includes tax policy, the budget, bond authorization and debt issuance, retirement, and all issues having a fiscal impact on the Commonwealth. As staff director, she serves as a non-partisan, professional advisor to the committee's members.  She also represents the committee on the Debt Capacity Advisory Committee, the Joint Advisory Board of Economists, the Six-Year Capital Outlay Plan Advisory Committee, the Virginia Economic Development Partnership Board, the Virginia Research Investment Committee, and the committee to review the six-year plans for institutions of higher education.

Prior to her position with the legislature, Betsey worked in the Governor's budget office as a higher education analyst, and in the budget office of the University of Virginia. 

She holds a Bachelor's degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and an MBA from Virginia Tech.
