Chris Barnes

Chris will be joining the Diversity, Equity and Inclusion office as its new Director of Development. Chris recently served as the Director of Development for University Initiatives with the University Development Office at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. With over six years development experience, Chris has a proven background of soliciting and closing major gifts, prospect portfolio and travel territory management. Prior to his fundraising career at UNC, Chris spent 14 years in financial services in both personal and business banking, and management.

Tyisha Hathorn

Tyisha is a strategic leader with more than 10 years of experience in graduate education - with success in supporting and mentoring students from recruitment through graduation. Her data-driven and forward-thinking approach has enabled successful collaboration with numerous colleagues throughout each university community she has served.  She is passionate about empowering future leaders from diverse backgrounds that will advance science and higher education.

Devin Bigoness

Devin leads the Custom solutions team for organizational partners and clients as part of the Darden Executive Education and the Sands Institute for Lifelong Learning. He is responsible for overall client engagement, team leadership and expanding Darden’s reach to global organizations to drive impact. Prior to Darden, Devin served as Director, Custom Live Programs at the integrated area of Cornell University in Cornell External Education. In that role he worked closely with global clients such as Merck, Amazon and RSM leveraging faculty across Cornell University.

Elinor Tappé

Elinor (Ellie) Tappé serves as Executive Director of Strategic Advancement where she helps shape and realize the strategic objectives of the Batten School. With a 25-year history in strategic planning and development, Ellie has held a variety of leadership roles in the corporate sector, as well as higher education and nonprofit. Her experience in philanthropy spans more than a decade and includes UC Berkeley, Larkin Street Youth Services and Urban Teachers. 

Q&A: Getting To Know New Arts & Sciences Dean Christa Davis Acampora

Christa Davis Acampora joined the University of Virginia on Sept. 1 as the new dean of the College and Graduate School of Arts & Sciences.

Acampora, a Virginia native, comes to UVA from Emory University in Atlanta, where she served as deputy provost and professor of philosophy. Prior to Emory, she was a full professor at Hunter College and the City University of New York’s Graduate Center and served as Hunter’s associate provost for faculty affairs and research.

Melissa Lubin

The University of Virginia announced today that Melissa M. Lubin has been appointed the dean of the School of Continuing and Professional Studies, effective Sept. 19. Lubin is currently the dean of the School of Professional & Continuing Education and chief economic engagement officer at James Madison University.
