Heather Engel has joined the University of Virginia community as the next Associate Vice President for Gift Planning University Advancement. Heather has spent the last 15 years at the Rochester Institute of Technology in various advancement leadership roles, most recently in the role of Associate Vice President for University Development and Engagement. Prior to her move to higher education, Heather spent nearly 13 years practicing law in Illinois, Massachusetts, and California. She specialized in estate planning for high net worth individuals.
Derek Wilson, P.E., LEED AP, CHFM assumed the role of Director of Health System Physical Plant on June 3, 2019. Derek leads an almost 200 person team responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities for the UVA Health System. He is responsible for over 6.5 million sq. ft. of Hospital and Research maintenance operations and project support groups.
Mike Cashman retired from the U.S. Navy as a Captain in 2014 after serving for 29 years as a helicopter pilot. In this role, he had the unique opportunity to command various squadrons stationed across the globe. Most significantly, he commanded the largest aviation airwing in the Navy with over 5000 Sailors, 150 helicopters and 15 operational and training units.
The University of Virginia Darden School Foundation announced today that Ashley Williams has been selected as the Chief Executive Officer and Chief Learning Officer of UVA Darden Executive Education, Lifelong Learning and Non-Degree Programs. Williams is currently Global CLO of McKinsey Academy, the arm of McKinsey & Co. that provides digital and in-person leadership development for its clients. Williams will assume her new role at Darden April 1.
John Lew has joined the University of Virginia community as the next Assistant Vice President, HR Talent. John has spent almost three decades working in various HR positions across both health care higher education. He joins UVA from Elon University where, since September 2015, he has served as Executive Director for Human Resources. Prior to Elon, he was Assistant Vice President for HR Operations and Strategy at the multi-site Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC.
The University of Virginia Library is very pleased to announce that Stan Gunn will become its Executive Director of Information Technology on December 3, 2018. He will report to the University Librarian and Dean of Libraries, John Unsworth, and he will be a member of the Library’s senior leadership team. Stan comes from UVA’s Organizational Excellence program, where he developed processes and systems to coordinate, monitor, and assess pan-University projects (both academic and administrative).
