Marcus L. Martin Jr. has 20 years of banking, production, management, fundraising, operational and trading and data sciences experience. As a varsity athlete at the University of Virginia, Marcus interned for UVA Endowment within Fixed Income. After graduation, Marcus spent his first 10 years in the emerging markets, with roles across capital markets including; structuring, production and management within Europe, Middle East and Africa at UBS, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, Troika (SBERbank) and UniCredit.

Dean of the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy

The University of Virginia today announced the appointment of Ian H. Solomon as the next dean of the Frank Batten School of Leadership and Public Policy, effective Sept. 1. Solomon, currently CEO of SolomonGlobal LLC, is an educator, policymaker, diplomat and businessman with more than 20 years of experience in more than 40 countries.

Vice President for Diversity, Equity and Inclusion

University of Virginia President Jim Ryan today announced the appointment of Kevin G. McDonald as vice president for diversity, equity and inclusion. An experienced administrator with a proven track record of advancing initiatives that help universities be diverse, vibrant and welcoming communities, McDonald is currently the vice chancellor for inclusion, diversity and equity at the University of Missouri-Columbia and the chief diversity, equity and inclusion officer for the University of Missouri system. He will assume the top leadership post on Aug. 1.

Associate Vice President of Gift Planning, University Advancement

Heather Engel has joined the University of Virginia community as the next Associate Vice President of Gift Planning, University Advancement. Heather has spent the last 15 years at the Rochester Institute of Technology in various advancement leadership roles, most recently in the role of Associate Vice President for University Development and Engagement. Prior to her move to higher education, Heather spent nearly 13 years practicing law in Illinois, Massachusetts, and California. She specialized in estate planning for high net worth individuals.

Director of Health System Physical Plant

Derek Wilson, P.E., LEED AP, CHFM assumed the role of Director of Health System Physical Plant on June 3, 2019. Derek leads an almost 200 person team responsible for the operation and maintenance of facilities for the UVA Health System. He is responsible for over 6.5 million sq. ft. of Hospital and Research maintenance operations and project support groups.
