The University of Virginia has appointed Olga N. Weider as the next Associate Vice President for Finance and University Controller. Weider joins UVAFinance with a wealth of experience and a proven track record in financial management. Olga is a lifelong learner who is passionate about innovation and continuous improvement, founded on integrity and good stewardship. She is committed to collaborative teamwork and solutions-based strategic planning.
Weider joins UVA after having served as the first female Assistant Vice President/University Controller at
the University of Florida (UF). In her role, she provided leadership, policy formulation, performance
measurement, and strategic direction for the advancement of enterprise vision. She oversaw a division of
approximately 150 employees, which encompassed a broad range of critical functions, including payroll,
financial reporting and general accounting, banking/merchant services, bursar, disbursements, travel,
asset management, cost analysis, and tax services.
At UF, Weider has led several enterprise-wide projects focused on the transformation and modernization
of systems and processes, including the implementation of UF GO, a new travel and expense system and
was the Chair for the Empowering UF initiative to modernize business processes and administrative
information systems across the enterprise, with an emphasis on user experience and enhanced
capabilities.
Weider joined the University of Florida in 2017 with extensive and wide-ranging previous experience as a
Controller, a Certified Internal Auditor, and a Certified Public Accountant. Weider’s previous experience
as a controller at Zoo Tampa and in Public Accounting concentrated on governmental, not-for-profit, and
healthcare sectors. She prides herself on successful transformation of financial enterprises, focused on
identifying and designing impactful future-focused solutions.
Weider holds an MBA from Louisiana State University, and a BA in Accounting from University of South
Florida.
In her free time, she is travelling, perusing books for the next best read or cheering her son on the tennis
court.
