As the Director of Recruiting Operations, Michelle Blais is dedicated to advancing the University of Virginia’s mission through collaboration with search consultants and strategic management of a dynamic team of recruiting associates. She began her journey at UVA as a Recruiting Associate with ESG, a role in which she supported high-profile searches. During this time, Michelle adeptly provided the crucial high-touch service essential for attracting top-tier talent. Her experience reflects her unwavering commitment to UVA’s mission of building a collaborative and diverse community.
Michelle quickly recognized the significance of fostering and sustaining strong relationships across Grounds and the Charlottesville community as foundational elements of UVA’s success. This realization led her to assume the role of Director of Carr's Hill Operations, overseeing the operations of the historic residence for the University President and his family. Managing everything from interior and exterior systems to furnishings and spaces, Michelle ensured the seamless execution of events and activities aligned with Carr's Hill's place in the community, broadened her management skills, and relationships across the University.
Driven by a growing interest in operations, Michelle embraced the opportunity to join the Office of the Senior Vice President for Operations and State Government Relations. In this role, she contributed to the essential behind-the-scenes work that keeps the University running day-to-day. Michelle's responsibilities included managing detailed calendars, coordinating complex meetings, event planning, and drafting correspondence on behalf of the Senior Vice President of Operations.
Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Science from California State University, Northridge, and a Master of Science from the University of Oklahoma. Outside of work, Michelle enjoys time outside, weekend adventures, and any time she can get with her son, a 2023 UVA graduate.
