UVA’s School of Engineering and Applied Science has named Michael Todd Associate Dean for Finance and Operations. Todd will be the School’s chief operating and chief financial officer and function as treasurer for the Virginia Engineering Foundation.
Most recently serving as Associate Vice President for Research for the University of North Carolina system, Todd brings nearly 20 years of leadership in higher education, government, and the private sector. Following diplomatic service with U.S. Department of State, he has held executive roles in research, academic affairs, university operations, and student affairs.
Todd holds an MBA from the University of North Carolina, MA in physics from UVA, and four undergraduate degrees (BA Russian, BS mathematics, BA physics, BA economics) from the University of Missouri. He has served on the boards of directors for the North Carolina Biotechnology Center, Cooperative Center for Climate and Satellites, Highlands Biological Station, and the Center for Design Innovation.
