Marcus Lewis Martin Jr.

Marcus L. Martin Jr. has 20 years of banking, production, management, fundraising, operational and trading and data sciences experience. As a varsity athlete at the University of Virginia, Marcus interned for UVA Endowment within Fixed Income. After graduation, Marcus spent his first 10 years in the emerging markets, with roles across capital markets including; structuring, production and management within Europe, Middle East and Africa at UBS, Merrill Lynch, Lehman Brothers, Troika (SBERbank) and UniCredit. While in several posts, Marcus developed dedicated fintech solutions to better manage execution, risk and client experience.

In 2014, Marcus launched Global Oak Capital Markets, LLC, a South Carolina based investment bank focused on global equity, private equity and fixed income banking services. Global Oak is recognized as one of the first certified minority owned banks in the state. Marcus served roles ranging from Chief Fundraiser, CEO, CCO, COO and Lead Producer over a five-year period. Marcus is also the Co-Founder of Port Royal Asset Management, LLC, a South Carolina registered investment advisor where Marcus serves advisor for Blockchain and Data Sciences, providing value assessments and deployment strategies for the digital asset marketplace.

Most recently, in 2017, Marcus Co-Founded Anchor Digital, Inc, a Delaware C Corp, blockchain based fintech software development and data company, with the goal of providing enterprise level solutions for compliance, regulatory, tax and portfolio and controls. The software is registered in the FINRA Compliance Vendor Directory, a 2019 member of Oracle’s Global Startup Ecosystem. The company is in its early stages, securing funding and working toward its first MVP release, with a full beta product and Intellectual Property.

Marcus prides himself as collaborator, infrastructure architect and a “go-to” guy for trusted relationships across public and private institutions, given his experience with regulators, boards and their stakeholders.

As an expert in Digital Asset compliance, regulations and operations, Marcus has provided formal advisory to several data sciences and blockchain companies, including; Tatras Data, Blockchain Triangle and Leverj.

Marcus is on the board of the Ivy Foundation, The Athletic Resource Foundation and previous member of the UVA IDEA Fund. Marcus also participates in several mentoring programs.

Marcus graduated with a B.B.A. in Economics from the University of Virginia where he played varsity football and basketball. Marcus is married with four children.
