Katie is a strategic, thoughtful administrator with nearly 15 years of experience in academic administration. She is deeply committed to cultivating collaboration, fostering community, and driving operational excellence. Throughout her career, she has successfully led projects aimed at streamlining operations, fostering culture and climate, and leveraging technology.
Katie joined the University of Virginia School of Education and Human Development as the inaugural Chief of Staff in July 2022, where she provided leadership and oversight of various essential functions, such as the dean’s office operations, faculty and staff affairs administration, and events. She collaborated closely with the Dean and other stakeholders to establish efficient project management and communication processes, set priorities, and drive strategic initiatives.
Before joining UVA, Katie spent ten years working across multiple roles at the University of Michigan, and most recently she held the role of Executive Director of Academic Administration and Special Advisor to the Provost at Teachers College, Columbia for three years. Her responsibilities included leading faculty and staff affairs, finance, student affairs, and human resources across multiple departments and the Provost's Office.
In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, going to farmers markets, and reading dystopian fiction or any book written by Brené Brown.
