John Lew has joined the University of Virginia community as the next Assistant Vice President, HR Talent. John has spent almost three decades working in various HR positions across both health care higher education. He joins UVA from Elon University where, since September 2015, he has served as Executive Director for Human Resources. Prior to Elon, he was Assistant Vice President for HR Operations and Strategy at the multi-site Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in Winston Salem, NC. His background includes leadership positions at Berklee College of Music, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, and Brigham and Women’s Hospital/Partners Health Care System all in Boston. John holds a BS in Human Resource Management from the University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth and is certified as a senior HR professional as well as a level one Title IX coordinator. John will begin his new role on March 11, 2019.
