In her twenty-five years of recruiting and executive search, Catherine Lindqvist has been involved in hundreds of leadership transitions and has built and led executive search organizations in both the academic and private sector. She is currently the Executive Director of the University of Virginia’s Executive Search Group, reporting to the Office of the President.
Prior to joining UVA, Catherine worked in recruiting for ten years before launching her own executive search consultancy. During this period, she split her time between her home in the U.S. and Sweden. She was recruited to the University of Virginia to build the internal executive recruiting function at a time of transformational change in leadership and a generational turnover of faculty and staff.
Her experience is in global search, and she works closely with hiring officials and committees to identify presidents, provosts, chief operating officers, deans, vice presidents, health system leaders, heads of development, HR, finance, and other senior executives.
She is passionate about engaging students and includes them on senior searches as well as providing mentoring. Although she is convinced she learns more for them.
Having spent twenty years living, working and raising a family in Charlottesville, equal amounts of time being an entrepreneur in the business community and a part of UVA, she loves building bridges between the two and making connections for people both locally and abroad.
She received her B.A. in Communications from Virginia Tech. and is a graduate of UVA's Leadership Excellence Program. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading and being active cycling, skiing, and long-distance running.
