In her three decades of recruiting and executive search, Catherine Lindqvist has been involved in hundreds of leadership transitions and has built and led executive search organizations in both the academic and private sectors. She is currently the Executive Director of the University of Virginia’s Executive Search Group, reporting to the Office of the President.
Prior to joining UVA, Catherine worked in recruiting before launching her own executive search consultancy. During this period, she split her time between the U.S. and Sweden. She was recruited to UVA in 2010 to build and lead the internal executive recruiting function at a time of transformational change in leadership and a generational turnover of faculty and staff. Since then, her team has recruited over 300 senior leaders to UVA.
She has combined the best of executive search with an intimate knowledge of UVA and the power of community. She works closely with leadership, search committees, and her team to identify exceptional senior talent for UVA and then helps these leaders develop high-performing teams: presidents, provosts, chief operating officers, deans, vice presidents, health system leaders, heads of development, HR, finance, etc. Having spent twenty years living, working, and raising a family in Charlottesville, equal amounts of time being an entrepreneur in the business community and a part of UVA, she loves building bridges between the two and helping make meaningful connections.
She received her B.A. in Communication from Virginia Tech. She is also a graduate of UVA's Leadership Excellence Program and UVA Darden School of Business The Executive Program. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, reading and cycling, skiing, and running.
